Tara Miller – NW Mental Health Center – Crookston – Whole Group
Tara Miller, MSW, LICSW, works for the Northwestern Mental Health Center in Crookston MN, in the role of School-Based Mental Health Professional for Crookston Public Schools. Tara is passionate about trauma-informed schools and helping all kids have the skills to access and manage their emotions and behaviors. Executive Functioning Skills for practical classroom integration are a part of supporting students to be their best. Executive functions are skills everyone uses to organize and act on information. Helping students learn these skills won’t just help them be successful in school, but in home-life, social relationships and future employment.

10:30 – 12:00 - (Breakout Sessions)
Elementary - Christine Musselman, Teacher of Students with Special Needs at Bagley Elementary School. - Executive Functioning: a fancy term for how we make and execute plans. They help us complete tasks and be organized. Come and learn to accommodate the students who are struggling, and how to make them successful in all parts of the day. Helpful hints, strategies and scenarios, and organizational tools to benefit both you and your students.
Secondary - Kendra Marvin, Behavior Analyst for Warroad Public Schools; Kris Edman - Director of Special Education for Warroad Public Schools - Executive functioning skills and the teenage student. Come and spend time learning how to support students who are struggling in a positive way. We will discuss scenarios, hints, and strategies to enable you to effectively work with your students.
Lunch – 12:00 – 12:45
12:45 – 2:15 – (Professionalism) – Whole Group – Gina Drellack - Para, para-professional, paraeducator, instructional assistant, classroom support, educational assistant: a variety of titles for a crucial school position that requires professionalism. Come together as we refresh, reinvigorate, and revitalize ourselves on being professional in our roles!
2:15 – 2:30 – Wrap up and Evaluation
