  • School Nutrition Consultant Program offers the following services. A mutual agreement determines which services a school uses.

    • Review of food services operations
    • Menu planning & review to ensure regulation adequacy
    • Nutritional analysis, guidance on nutritional label reading
    • Managing USDA Meal programs
    • Budgeting and purchasing training
    • Preparation for Food & nutrition Department MDE review
    • Evaluation of service line & recommendations for improved flow & regulatory compliance
    • Grant writing, in particular the USDA equipment grant
    • Staff evaluation of appropriate levels & other staff training
    • Cooking Matters classes
    • Assistance with moving from pan and bake menu to more scratch foods menu
    • Standardized recipe development
    • Commodity program assistance
    • Increasing student participation during meals by improving/increasing student services/quality of meals
    • HACCP-Food Safety Program evaluation and assistance
    • Procurement compliance and assistance with RFP process
    • Assistance in application for school food service awards such as Alliance for Healthier Schools
    • Help with obtaining required documentation for grains, meats, and combination foods
    • Assistance with creating greater overall department efficiency and improved quality of meals
